Principal Water/ Waste Engineer

My client is currently seeking a Principal Water/ Waste Engineer. The main responsibilities of this role are: Providing leadership, sector/discipline, technical advice, take on a key role within the sector and leading by example where appropriate.

The Job

This role offers a great opportunity to become a strategic resource within a utilities teams providing project technical civil/structural lead and developing the small structural support team.

My client expects the relevant engineering degree, chartered engineer MICE or MIStructE and preferably both and extensive post chartered experience of civil/structural input to civil engineering schemes.

Essential experience:
• Structural and civil engineering project technical lead to civil engineering schemes – preferably in the utilities sector
• Structural design particularly at the soil/structure interface including civil and hydraulic design of water or wastewater treatment facilities
• Conversant with current structural Eurocodes (EC 0-3,7)
• Good motivational, influencing and people management skills – positive thinker
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
• Leading civil and structural design projects and/or initiative within the company
• Provide technical lead & direction to the team & take a proactive role in developing staff to their full potential,
• Manage selected projects, take responsibility for resource estimation, sub-consultants, the production of analysis & design;
• Liaise with the Project Managers & Clients to advise structural progress, changes/modifications.
• Carry out asset inspections, surveys and reports – throughout the UK;
• Identifying opportunities and driving project inputs to maximise the profitability repeat business.
• Gain a good understanding of Client’s to build effective and enduring relationships.
• Comply with relevant H & S regulations & to promote a culture of awareness within the team.
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your Team Leader
