Principal Sustainability Officer (Temporary to cover Maternity Leave)
37 hours per week £28,636 - £30,851 (+ £5,300 honorarium) per annum County Hall, Worcester, WR5 2NP Ref: PP074 An 'excellent' rated authority, Worcestershire County Council enjoys a strong reputation for its work on sustainability and was recently awarded Beacon Authority status for its work tackling climate change. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to provide maternity cover for the leader of the Sustainability Team. Based in the Economic Development and Sustainability Unit and reporting to the Head of Economic Development and Sustainability you will have responsibility for taking the development and delivery of the council's sustainability programme to the next stage. Together with a sound understanding of sustainability and climate change issues, a relevant degree and post graduate qualification, you will need considerable experience of working in the sustainability field, management skills and the ability to innovate. Your role will include co-ordinating the council's sustainability programme through the corporate sustainability group, (including leading the Council's involvement with the Energy Saving's Trust 'One to One' programme). You will also oversee implementation of the Local Strategic Partnership's (LSP) Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan and coordinate the LSP Climate Change Group. The Sustainability Team's role includes policy and strategy development, environmental management, and education, promotion and community engagement on sustainability issues. Experience of working in or closely with Local Government in an environmental field is essential.
