By joining this client you will become part of its worldwide team of over 6000 professionals involved in designing, managing and implementing leading edge programmes and projects in the water, environmental and energy sectors. The opportunity is to join its team in High Wycombe. The Principal Sustainability Consultant will play a central role in developing its workload and reputation in delivering sustainable development services for a range of water company, government and industry clients. Through appropriate engagement with clients, the consultant will seek opportunities to contribute to its global Climate Change Commitment. The role requires the technical management of and provision of specialist input to projects related to sustainable development and climate change. The successful candidate will be responsible for the pursuit of new business opportunities within the private and public sector clients in areas such as water, flooding, energy, government, local authority, nuclear decommissioning and transport. The successful candidate will be responsible for bid management and proposal writing. In addition to this you will be required to develop regional client relationships and build relationships with and manage specialist sub-consultants. The successful candidate will need to carry out report writing and present them. You will also be involved in conference participation and writing of technical papers, workshop facilitation and you will mentor junior staff and staff of other disciplines. To be successful in this role you will need to be a chartered member of a relevant professional institution with proven experience of working with private industry, central/local government or other agency clients in one or more key infrastructure sectors: water, flooding, energy, local authority services, nuclear decommissioning, transport. You will also need a keen understanding of a wide range of social, environmental and economic issues, such as: - Climate change science, mitigation and adaptation - Sustainable development policy and practice - Environmental legislation and regulation - Environmental justice - Corporate responsibility and reporting - Sustainability indicators - Carbon emissions trading - Systems thinking The successful candidate will also need strong skills in a range of technical areas, such as: - Strategic environmental assessment - Sustainability appraisal - Carbon/ecological footprinting - Energy efficiency and renewables - Water conservation - Material resource efficiency - Impact assessment - Cost-benefit analysis - Value and risk assessment - Policy development - Research and development - Multi-stakeholder dialogue In addition to the requirements above you will need an enthusiasm for developing new business in a competitive marketplace and have the ability to think creatively to develop and deliver new services to meet the changing needs of clients. |
