Description

The GLA Environment Unit is recruiting two Principal Project and Programme Officers; one to the Energy Efficiency and Delivery team and one to the Zero Carbon Policy Team.

Energy Efficiency and Delivery Team

The London Environment Strategy sets out the Mayor’s ambition for London to become one of the greenest cities ever. At the centre of this ambition is his commitment to make London a zero-carbon city by 2050, and through the Energy for Londoners programme, help make London’s homes warm, healthy and affordable, its workplaces more energy efficient, and to supply the capital with more local clean energy. This post is a great opportunity to play a leading role in achieving this vision.

The role will involve devising and delivering new projects and initiatives within the Energy Efficiency and Delivery team, with a focus on home energy efficiency, such as the Mayor’s Warmer Homes fund, and supporting the development of a thriving market for greening London’s homes.

Zero Carbon Policy Team

The Zero Carbon Policy Team conducts analysis and research to develop the policy and programmes needed to decarbonise London. To get to zero carbon, London will need to be supplied by a range of clean and renewable energy sources. The Mayor has set an ambition for London to achieve one gigawatt of installed solar capacity by 2030 and two gigawatts by 2050. His draft New London Plan sets high standards for new buildings so they are energy efficient and use low carbon forms of energy.

This role will involve developing new tools and programmes to help deliver the Mayor’s Solar Action Plan, accelerating the roll out of solar across community groups, businesses and the GLA Group. It will also involve leading on GLA policy to tackle embodied carbon and ensure new build development in London is exemplary and low carbon.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share.

In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan, childcare voucher scheme and a career average pension scheme.
