The Malaysia BU currently has an opportunity for a Principal Environmental Consultant with a marine science background to join our multi-diciplinary team in Kuala Lumpur. You must have a passion for marine environmental science and have a strong interest in driving innovation in our approach to data gathering, management and presentation for use in ESHIA projects and for other purposes. You will have the ooportunity to be involved in a wide range of projects in the marine environment including baseline and monitoring studies, sensitivity studies, mainly for the oil & gas industry but also increasingly for marine infrastructure development. There is also opportunity to diversify.

For this position we would like to hear from candidates with the following experience:

  • A strong background in marine science, preferably with field work and laboratory experience;
  • A specialism in ecology is desirable;
  • A good knowledge of biological statistical analysis would be an advantage;
  • At least 7 - 10 years of experience in environmental consultancy is essential;
  • Strong ESHIA project experience in the oil and gas sector, marine sector is preferrable;
  • GIS skills particularly in data management, spatial analysis and mapping and familarity with ArcGIS would be an advantage;
  • Experience in oil spill modelling, air emissions modelling, produced water modelling etc would be an advantage;
  • Demonstrable project management awareness/skill is essential;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team is essential;
  • Excellent report writing skills. Fluency in both written and spoken English is a fundamental requirement.
