Description of the jobSalary: £40,365 - £42,490
The role We’re seeking a Principal Environmental Project Manager to join the National Environmental Assessment Service (NEAS).
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience and expertise in Statutory Environmental Assessment and be able to provide technical leadership and advice on delivery of outcomes and process to all tiers of our business.
In addition to developing capabilities in the core technical areas of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and sustainability they will also be required to develop complementary senior professional expertise in such areas as stakeholder engagement, river science or specific environmental/land based/planning disciplines.
The team NEAS specialise in the evaluation of environmental and social risk and how it effects the Agency’s strategic plans and major infrastructure projects. We ensure that the Agency identifies potential environmental risk at an early stage and work as a client service with Area and the project team, using the tools of EIA/SEA, to manage any inherent socio-environmental risks and deliver positive outcomes.
The team also provides the Agency’s professional resources in Heritage and Landscape Architecture.
Experience/skills required You will • demonstrate the depth and extent of your understanding of EIA/SEA and related disciplines. • be able to demonstrate how you are an effective communicator within an organisation in order to allow effective risk based decision making. • have experience of technical review and will be able to demonstrate experience of quality assurance allied to programme and project management experience.
• have experience of technical leadership to small teams of highly qualified and skilled technical professionals. You will show that you have developed maintained and shared technical expertise with direct reports or virtual teams. • be able to show that your work has met the criteria and been endorsed by recognised third parties such as IEMA or CIWEM. Additional useful information The role will include travel across the region and further afield and some overnight stays.
