Job Description

Due to the continued success and growing workload of our water business, we are seeking to recruit an Engineering Geologist to our Rivers and Coastal Division based in Swansea (part of Atkins Water).
The Rivers and Coastal team in Swansea carries out a wide range of projects, for clients in the water sector across the UK and increasingly overseas, including the design of flood defence schemes and port and canal infrastructure. Other civil/geotechnical projects are also undertaken including highway and bridge schemes and other general earthwork/slope stability projects.

Requirements

  • Good academic background with a relevant degree and ideally an MSc in Geotechnical Engineering / Engineering Geology
  • Recognisable amount of design experience in the relevant area of business is essential
  • Candidate should be chartered or working towards chartership
  • A sound engineering understanding, flare for innovation, good communication and report writing skills and the ability to self check and produce accurate work

Responsibilities

The role will involve investigation, feasibility and design predominantly on flood defence projects and a wider scale of highway structures and earthworks.
Feasibility studies, ground investigation planning and supervision, computer analysis and engineering design, technical reporting, completion of other technical tasks as appropriate to complete the works, site visits and liaison with clients, contractors, stakeholders and other professional bodies.
