Principal Electrical Consultant - Offshore

Our client is a small and rapidly developing company working at the forefront of the grid connection of renewable energy. This post is available for candidates with at least three years relevant industry experience. The work will involve all electrical aspects of offshore wind energy including design, grid connection, commercial and regulatory aspects. The candidate will have the opportunity to either lead or work within a team. There may also be scope to develop skills & experience in wave and tidal energy projects and other areas of company business. The post is based in Glasgow although other locations will be considered. 

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 

  • Good command of English with the ability to write clear and concise reports
  • General computer skills
  • Ability to undertake power system calculations
  • An appreciation of electricity generation, transmission and distribution
  • Experience of grid connection of generation
  • Experience of grid integration issues, regulatory and political affairs
  • Experience with offshore electrical systems. 

 

The candidate will be expected to undertake all grid and electrical tasks related to offshore developments from technical analysis and design to specification and grid connection negotiations. Principal candidates will also have the opportunity to develop and lead a team. An ability to manage large projects is desirable. 

The candidate will ideally hold the following:

 

  • Electrical engineering first degree
  • Relevant post graduate degree
  • Significant relevant experience, more for team leadership
  • Demonstrable experience with offshore wind energy
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body and chartership
The position is available with five weeks annual leave plus eight public holidays. Salary is negotiable depanding on experience. The company aims to help its staff develop and grow with the company and offers flexible and relaxed working conditions.
