The purpose of the role will be to provide leadership of a regional team of ecologists within a wider UK ecology team, providing ecological and environmental consultancy services at a high level to external and internal clients, working with Technical Managers and other team leaders to build Mouchel Consulting’s ecological business.

You will also line manage junior ecological staff.

About You
We are looking for an experienced ecological consultant and team leader with a track record of delivering advice and work to a wide range of clients.

  • Extensive experience of providing ecological consultancy services informing development projects.
  • Successful commercial capability at a high level and proven business development track record within an environmental consultancy.
  • Experienced in leading projects, interpreting data, reporting to clients and preparing, reviewing and approving ecological reports.
  • Comprehensive understanding of and technical expertise in ecology and environmental consultancy.
  • Excellent knowledge of European directives and UK legislation concerning protected sites, habitats and species, and the implications of these for projects and clients.
  • Experience of and familiarity with the protected species licensing process, for example, having held or worked under a protected species licence, and of undertaking licence applications.
  • A willingness to work unsociable hours, outdoors, and often in difficult weather conditions whilst undertaking field studies, as dictated by work requirements.
  • Fluent spoken and written English. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
