Matchtech's Environment team is currently recruiting for a Principal Ecologist to lead a team of ecologists based in Glasgow

The Job

We're looking for a Principal Ecologist to lead a team of ecologists based in Glasgow, delivering specialist ecological skills to a wide range of projects and clients and supporting the wider services of our client and building ecological business throughout Scotland.

About You

A experienced ecologist and environmental consultant you will be qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent), ideally a full member of CIEEM and a Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist. You will have a full, clean UK driving licence.

The successful candidate would also demonstrate the following skills:

•Successful team leadership - including strong commercial and business development track record
•Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to plan and implement project work independently 
•The ability to work unsociable hours, outdoors, and often in difficult weather conditions whilst undertaking field studies, as dictated by the ecology of wildlife 
•Be fluent in the use of common computer packages to organise resources, analyse data and produce reporting documents 
•Be able to communicate professionally in the English language, both verbally and through written work, and take responsibility for constantly improving standards of such work 
•Act as part of a team of ecologists working together, exhibiting a positive influence to solve problems and achieve project goals 
•Experience of using ArcGIS for making maps and organising spatial data would be advantageous.

Ideally applicants will have experience of providing input to EIAs as well as there is likely to be a lot of this type of work involved in the role.
