Introduction

Our client, a global multi-disciplinary are looking to expand their team with the appointment of a Principal Ecologist to be based in their Glamorgan office to meet the demands of their growing project portfolio.

The Job

The Principal Ecologist will become part of an experienced UK Ecology team made up of over 100 Ecologists for a well respected company in the market. Our client offer excellent career prospects, continued professional development and the opportunity to work on international projects.

Primary job responsibilities:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of ecologists working on a variety of projects.

  • Ecological project management

  • Demonstrable business development experience

  • Preparation of ecological impact studies, feasibility studies, and scheme reports for projects

  • Resolution of technical issues as they occur for a range of areas across projects and for the monitoring of progress

Essential:

  • An honours degree in ecology or related field

  • Full member of the Chartered Institute for Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).

  • Eligibility for CEnv

  • Proven experience of most aspects of ecological projects

  • Thorough understanding of biodiversity legislation pertinent to the UK and Europe

  • Capable of managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice

  • Adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements

  • Good IT skills

Desirable:

  • CEnv / CEcol

  • Postgraduate degree

  • Natural England Protected species licence(s).

  • Full current driving licence.

  • An ecological specialism.
