Job title: Principal Ecologist   

Location: Glamorgan, Wales

Rate: £33,000 - £45,000 DOE

Job Summary for Principal Ecologist:

 

We are working with an established multi-disciplinary consultancy to appoint an experienced Principal Ecologist to work alongside the Ecology Team Leader. This is an excellent opportunity to get involved in an array of project work across a variety of sectors and be part of an established and successful team.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities for principal ecologist:

 

As the Principal Ecologist, you will have overall responsibility for;

  • Quality and technical expertise, including developing the team and business opportunities.
  • Project management including pricing, programming, resource planning and financial control, technical management of the ecological surveys, report writing and report quality checking.
  • Ecological impact assessment and mitigation design.

Qualifications / Experience:

Successful candidates will have;

  • A relevant degree and previous ecological consultancy experience. Multidisciplinary experience desirable.
  • Full MIEEM and CEnv status.
  • Protected species handling and survey licences for European Protected Species, with an ecological specialism in botany or bats preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of development licensing procedures and mitigation design and monitoring.
  • Ecological Impact Assessment experience including preparing the biodiversity section of Environmental Impact Assessments. Coastal and/or marine ecology experience desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation and policy.
  • Experience of coordinating Environmental Impact Assessments and Habitats Regulations Assessments.
  • Full UK Driving license. Car ownership desirable.
