Press Officer

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the League’s campaigns and communications team as a press officer with responsibility for promoting the League across all types of media. The right candidate will be a motivated, self starter who is sympathetic to the League’s aims and is keen to build on our existing media presence. 

 Person Specification

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who can demonstrate that their experience and knowledge meets the following specification:

- Degree or equivalent professional qualification or significant relevant work experience in a related field
- Significant experience of working in a busy press office, public relations or news media environment
- Ability to take a confident approach with journalists and be a spokesperson for the organisation
- Experience of writing for publication
- Experience of the voluntary sector
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word and Excel
- Proficiency in conducting internet based research
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, prioritise a workload, and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to remain focused under pressure
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and with other organisations
- Willingness to work out of hours and to be ‘on call’
- Commitment to, and a broad understanding of, the League’s campaigning objectives and aims
- Motivated and enthusiastic individual

Salary

We are offering a salary in the range of approximately £22,838 - £26,264 depending on experience.
