POSITION SUMMARY
SUMMARY OF POSTION:
The Preserve Management Assistant will perform various management activities on several preserves in the Osage Plains of southwest Missouri.  Primary responsibilities will involve spraying herbicides to treat invasive vegetation on prairies and glades, using chainsaws to clear invasive woody vegetation from prairies and sensitive glade areas, marking property boundaries, and general maintenance and stewardship on preserves and TNC facilities.  This position requires irregular hours and extensive outdoor physical labor sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Preserve Management Assistant participates in preserve operations, maintenance, and management.  This may include one or more of the following functions:
• Spray herbicides to treat invasive vegetation
• Use chainsaws and other equipment to remove invasive woody vegetation from prairies and glade areas on Conservancy Preserve lands
• Conduct routine preserve management work such as brush and tree cutting, fence construction and repair, and preserve boundary marking
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Other management duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• High school diploma and 6 months to 1 year of related experience
• Ability to operate various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (chainsaw, ATV, mower, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and be over age 21 to operate a TNC vehicle
• Ability to perform physical work, sometimes under adverse conditions or in inclement weather

SALARY INFORMATION
BASE PAY: $9.00 per hour
