The Power Electronics Engineer will call upon his extensive engineering experience to develop power efficiency products in support of XZERES Corporation goals. The duties include responsibility for electrical and power systems product development, certification, manufacturing liaison and product support. This position also includes responsibilities for supplier/partner coordination and oversight, consultant coordination and establishing engineering practices and processes needed to support the job tasks. The Power Electronics Engineer will report to the CTO and Chief Engineer. 

Key Responsibilities:

Provide overall leadership and management for the development and certification of electrical and power systems to meet XZERES and certification authorities compliance requirements 

• Provides expert judgment and analysis to support XZERES products including ideas for new products and product enhancements 

• The development, testing, certification and continuous improvement of power efficiency products

• Development, in coordination with key supplier/partners, reliable and innovative systems

• HW specifications and requirements

• Systems Integration Lab development and test plan to integrate development and production hardware and software as rapidly as possible to support a lower risk project prior to first prototype commissioning

• Responsible for value engineering trade studies to support performance requirements considering reliability, schedule, risk and manufacturing cost

• Work product responsibilities include design trade studies, preliminary design models, final design engineering, FMEA analysis, applicable test plans/reports and customer documentation

• Aggressively support project schedules and budget

• Establish, and assist with, the development and documentation of engineering practices and processes with respect to the assigned engineering specialties including electronic design definition, simulation management and analysis documentation

• Work with Supply Chain Management (SCM) to secure and manage appropriate outsourced supplier contracts and deliverable

• Work with internal and external test organizations and suppliers to ensure required development and certification analysis and testing is effectively accomplished in a timely manner


WORK EXPERIENCE: 

MUST HAVE
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and power systems product engineering with power efficiency and/or power factor correction product development experience. 

• Design, development and testing of circuits for multi-kilowatt applications

• Demonstrated ability in product design for protection circuitry and safety controls

• Performance monitoring and system control design experience

• Thorough background in design for cost and manufacturability

• Hands-on detail design and test experience

• Experience with documentation processes, requirements, testing, reliability, maintainability, and tracking of product development progress 

• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Well-developed verbal, written, listening and presentation skills are required; in addition to solid interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

• Highly proficient computer skills including MS Office products 

• Relocation – this position is based in Wilsonville, OR. Candidate must be prepared to relocate promptly to a location within reasonable commuting distance. 

• Must be physically and mentally capable of performing all aspects of this position specification, to include some long days, and some travel, as needed to accomplish assigned tasks and support the XZERES Team.

• Comfortable in lean environment – Comfortable working in a high energy lean environment with the ability to work on projects with other team members and limited day-to-day supervision.
