Our client a multinational leader in food processing is looking to fill the position of Potato Agronomist for the Delmas Area. Requirements: · A BSc Agric, Agronomy or equivalent is a MUST· Knowledge of product quality and the impact thereof on the achievement of objectives· Ability to evaluate and make recommendation on best practice· Interpret environmental variables and implement methods to maximise product quality and yield· Knowledge of agronomy and the agricultural industry is essential· Be/ consider yourself a specialist in the field of growing, designing trials for and evaluating the varieties of potatoes Roles and Responsibilities: · Oversee plant growth and maturity· Review season climatic factors and variables· Oversee the interaction between pathogens and determine processes to deal with these interactions· Design trials for and evaluating the varieties of potatoes· Research, testing and optimising agronomic practices particularly focusing on potato variety development for South African production· Evaluate and make recommendation son best practice· Interpret environmental variables and implement methods to maximise product quality and yield· Maintenance of relationships with suppliers, factories and agriculture and seed suppliers as well as management transfer· Introducing improved varieties in terms of yield, quality and factory recovery.
