Job/Research Summary The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL's Chemical and Materials Sciences Center has an immediate opening for a full time Chemical Imaging Postdoctoral Researcher. The assignment is for one year with possible renewal for up to a maximum three years.
Job Duties Conduct research to advance the understanding of nanoscale charge and energy flow in photochemical energy conversion systems such as excitonic solar cells, quantum dot systems, carbon nanotubes, plasmonic structures and inorganic/organic hybrids. Collaborate with researchers of diverse backgrounds (physicists, chemists, spectroscopists, engineers, and technicians) in multi-disciplinary project teams investigating and integrating a variety of experimental plans. Duties include the development of new chemical imaging techniques on a platform based on scanning probe microscopy with integrated light in and output and picoampere current detection and integration of ultrafast optical techniques. Proficient documentation of work in detailed technical reports is expected. Candidate will work with senior staff to publish and present key finding in peer-reviewed journals and at regional and national scientific meetings. Duties also include attention to environmental safety and health issues.
Required Education and Experience Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
Additional Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes Candidates must have a strong background in scanning probe microscopy. Experience with steady state and time-resolved laser spectroscopy are minimum requirements. Ability to work well in a team or independently with limited supervision is critical.
