Description

Project description: This project aims at determination of the circulation through the Mozambique Channel and in the East Madagascar Current, the long-term temporal and spatial structure, and its hydrographical properties. Our observations near Madagascar already started in 2000 and are still ongoing. The project is jointly funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO) and NIOZ. INATEX is carried out in cooperation with the Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research of Utrecht University (IMAU).

The postdoctoral researcher will take part in research cruises to recover and re-deploy the current meter arrays near Madagascar. He/she will be responsible for the data processing and for the scientific analysis.

Requirements: We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD in Physical Oceanography, Physics, Civil Engineering, or a comparable subject or a related physical subject. Experience with sea-going research is beneficial.

We offer: A fulltime Postdoctoral position for 3 years, a pension scheme, a yearly 8% vacation allowance, year end bonus and flexible employment conditions. Conditions are based on the Collective Labour Agreement of Research Centres. Cost of relocation and help with housing is provided by NIOZ.
