The National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) Theoretical Materials Science Group in the Chemical and Materials Sciences Center has an opening for a full time (40 hours per week) Postdoctoral Researcher position. NREL is located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado and is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.
Developing electronic structure theory and algorithms to study materials for energy applications. These include developing theory of PV materials; energy storage materials and thermo storage materials. It also involves revealing novel properties of nanostructured materials and design of new functional materials. In this assignment, the postdoctoral researcher will perform first-principles theoretical calculations to understand the electronic, optical, transport, magnetic, and defect properties of energy materials and will disseminate the results through scientific publications, program reports and technical presentations
