The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL's National Bioenergy Center has an immediate opening for a full time Postdoctoral Researcher as part of the Biorefinery Analysis team. Desired candidate will perform process design, economic analysis, and lifecycle assessment of biomass-based processes. The program scope includes research and engineering on biomass characterization and conversion for government and private industry. The assignment is for one year with possible renewal for two additional years for a three-year maximum.
This person will conduct process modeling duties using process simulation tools. This person will also use the simulation data to generate cash flow analysis models for a variety of biomass conversion technologies to generate biofuels and bioproducts. Research will include collaboration with experimentalists, and will require oral and written communication skills.
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
Ph.D. in chemical or biological engineering.
Demonstrated knowledge of software such as Aspen Plus, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
