Our vibrant, modern University is gaining prominence both nationally and internationally and we have ambitious plans for our future. Our main campuses in the cities of Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough have been transformed with major capital investments. With an annual income of £163m, over 30,000 students and 2,000 staff, we are a major force for higher education in the East of England.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Global Sustainability Institute (GSI) within the Climate Action and Cultural Systems Research theme.

Managed by the Faculty of Science and Technology, the GSI works closely with colleagues across the Faculty departments. The GSI also encompasses research being carried out across other Faculties within our University, and builds on the existing work across our University, including a traditional research degree portfolio and a professional doctorate programme.

Working on the Water Efficiency in the EU Urban Environment (WE@EU) Project, you will have the responsibility to help establish an international network of research and innovation in water efficiency. You will be expected to spend half your time developing research around water efficiency, and the remainder of your time supporting the development research under the Climate Action and Cultural Systems theme. You will also be encouraged to write papers and apply for additional funding.

With a PhD, you will have a relevant background in water efficiency and/or climate change. You will have undertaken research in a relevant field, and will have experience in such projects being qualitative and/or quantitative. With excellent written and oral communication skills, you will be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, and comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to the field of research. You will have knowledge of research and design methods, and will possess the ability to demonstrate self-direction and originality when tackling and solving research problems.
