The employee will conduct research within the strategic and cross-cutting research platform of 'Modelling the Regional and Global Earth System' (MERGE) at Lund University. MERGE involves also several other Swedish universities as well as SMHI. MERGE focuses on the development of a new generation of climate models and their application to a range of problems and questions related to regional and global climate change and its impacts.
The researcher will develop and perform simulations with a regional climate model and a global Earth system model, with efforts in particular on a model component that simulates vegetation dynamics and terrestrial biogeochemistry and the associated interactions with the atmosphere. The compilation of data and the development of tools for the calibration and evaluation of the models will form part of the work.
