The Western Regional Climate Center (WRCC) seeks a post doctoral scientist with significant expertise in social sciences to better understand the information needs, adaptive capacity, and opportunities for co-production of climate knowledge stakeholders in California and the Great Basin (C-GB). The overall goal of this position is to perform research in the western U.S. starting with C-GB to: a) assess the adaptation and mitigation capacity of stakeholders from a variety of sectors, and b) identify present and emerging local climate science and services needs. In particular, this position will 1) help develop consistent research methods and protocols for conducting assessment activities throughout the C-GB region, (2) collaborate with colleagues in California and Nevada on similar activities, (3) conduct fieldwork (including focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and other survey techniques) throughout C-GB, and 4) lead the preparation of manuscripts for publication related to this work. The selected individual will report to and work closely with the Director and Regional Climatologist at WRCC.
