ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a worldwide association of more
than 1,200 metropolitan regions, cities, towns, counties and municipal
associations in 70 countries that are dedicated to implementing sustainable

We are offering a
Post-graduate Internship:
Training with focus on climate change
in the international team of ICLEI’s Capacity Center/ World Secretariat in Bonn,
Germany.
Tasks:
· Support the development of a training course on local climate activities
(mitigation and adaptation);
· Carry out facts & figures research via web, libraries, archives and
correspondence on the topic;
· Produce excellent presentation materials incl. graphics, charts and
PowerPoint slides for various course elements and in cooperation with the
presenters;
· Support the development of course didactics, role plays etc,;
· Prepare and edit course materials as handouts;
· Support the implementation of the course, including logistics;
· Help to further develop the training approach.
Requirements:
· Degree in a relevant subject such as Communication, Paedagogy, Urban
Geography, Political Science, Public Administration, Town & Regional
Planning, Urban Planning & Management, or similar
· Experience or familiarity in the areas of cities and local government, urban
planning & management, environmental sustainability, training/
visualisation or similar
· Solid research and presentation skills, organized working style, creative
and pro-active attitude
· Good oral communication, and very good writing and visual presentation
skills
· Excellent written English; proficiency in another language is considered as
an addition asset, especially German, Spanish, French
· Computer skills: Office packages; experience with web content
management (preferably Typo 3); photo editing software, and regular tools
for communication.
Terms and conditions for internship:
· The internship position is available from end October 2010 at the ICLEI
World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany. The duration will be six months. The
internship is within ICLEI’s international Capacity Center, the intern reports
to the Director of the Capacity Center;
· ICLEI offers interns a cost compensation of Euro 640, i.e., about Euro 525
after tax and social insurance fees;
· Workings hours: 40h per week; 2 days of paid leave per month (i.e., 12
days for six months internship);
· Working language: English;
· Non-EU citizens are also welcome to apply provided they have the
possibility of being granted an EU work permit prior to the start of the
internship.
Transfer into an assistant position possible:
If an applicant provides relevant experiences in the field of climate training and
proves to find her/his own and independent ways of approaching the tasks, the
position can be transferred into a high paid but shorter position (1. November
2010 – 28 February 2011).
