Rothamsted Research, the UK’s oldest and largest agricultural research centre, is seeking a post-doctoral biochemist/molecular physiologist to undertake research on targeted protein degradation in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Crop Protection.
This is a joint project between the labs of Dr Freddie Theodoulou (Rothamsted Research) and Dr Kathryn Lilley (University of Cambridge) and the post holder will be required to spend some time in Cambridge (travel funds will be provided). We are looking for a motivated researcher who will have the opportunity to make a unique contribution to the project whilst working effectively within, and benefiting from being a member of, a dynamic and productive multidisciplinary team.
The project will investigate substrates of the N-end rule pathway of targeted protein degradation in plants, using a suite of innovative proteomic techniques. Identified substrates will be validated by studying their fate in vitro and in planta and the physiological relevance of protein turnover tested.
Applicants require a PhD in a biological subject (or equivalent), ideally with experience of protein purification and proteomics. Familiarity with genetic manipulation of plants would be desirable but not essential.
Funding is available for three years at Band D, with a starting salary normally in the region of £28,110 and £31,677 per annum. An early start date is preferred.
