NIWA's busy Christchurch campus is seeking a passionate post-doctoral researcher to join its Marine Biosecurity team.

The successful candidate will assist in a range of research projects, including developing novel tools for risk assessment, and surveillance and management of marine pests.

This will involve undertaking both field and lab research on factors contributing to the success of invasive marine species, with particular emphasis on modeling the barriers encountered during establishment of founding populations.

To be considered for this position you need have a recognised PhD in marine, environmental or mathematical sciences.

Your experience in population or risk modelling will be underpinned by a sound knowledge of biological or human systems using one or more of the following tools: Matrix Population Models, Statistical Models, Risk Analysis Software, Transportation Network Analysis, Epidemiological modeling or Bioeconomic modeling.

You also need to have a demonstrated ability to work on contracted research projects.
