The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL’s Biosciences Center has immediate opening for one full-time (40 hours/week) postdoctoral researcher to study regulation of carbon metabolism in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis 6803 mutants deficient in producing native storage compounds. The fundamental research involves genetic, genomic, physiological, and biochemical analyses, including photosynthesis and metabolite measurements, and will be performed in a multi-disciplinary team. The position requires a recent (within 3 years) Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Experience in photosynthesis, and excellent oral/writing communication skills are required. The appointment is for one year; possible renewal for a second and a third year will depend on funding and performance.
