(WCS)

The Wildlife
Conservation Society (WCS) saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through
science, conservation action, education, and inspiring people to value nature.
WCS, with its headquarters in New York, supports more than 3,000 staff in the
field across over 60 nations in both the marine and terrestrial realms.

 

The Positions:

WCS is now
seeking Regional Directors for each of its two largest and growing field
programs: Africa and Asia. Both positions, based at its headquarters, provide extraordinary
opportunities to contribute to global biodiversity conservation, lead large,
diverse and talented teams, and pioneer new approaches to conservation across
and between continents.

 

The positions
are similar in their roles and responsibilities in promoting biological conservation
through over 35 country programs across Africa and Asia. The Regional Director
will help establish program priorities, develop strategic approaches, and
coordinate financial and administrative support to the field. Additionally,
s/he will coordinate with the other WCS programs and with other national and
international organizations. Finally s/he will promotes biological
conservation among national governments, international agencies, and other
non-governmental organizations; directs international attention to important
sites for conservation; and influences policies that promote conservation.

 

Qualifications

A doctorate or equivalent experience
in a field related to the conservation of biological diversity; 10 years
minimum of management experience; ability to foster teamwork within the
program; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; significant and
diverse fundraising experience.  Fluency
in English is essential.  Nationals of
Africa and Asia are strongly encouraged to apply. The position is based at WCS
headquarters in New York City, and includes a significant travel schedule.  Salary level commensurate with experience.
