Greenpeace is campaigning to address the root causes of conflict, such as climate change, and has a 40 year history of opposing war and nuclear weapons. We are now looking for a Political Advisor to help us analyse and communicate relevant trends in the field of conflict, disarmament, military spending and climate change. This position is a joint position of Greenpeace International and Greenpeace Mediterranean and we expect this advisor to be based in Istanbul, Turkey. Interested? Key responsibilities:
Identify opportunities where peace and disarmament messaging can be included in Greenpeace’s ongoing campaigns, particularly on climate change
Ongoing monitoring and analysis of peace and disarmament political developments worldwide, including attending relevant conferences and negotiations
Writing internal and external briefing papers on peace and disarmament issues
Giving strategy and communication advice to Greenpeace offices and campaigns
Skills and qualifications:
Excellent understanding of peace and disarmament issues, with at least 3 years of professional experience.
Expertise in analysis, writing and research.
Ability to clearly formulate and present facts and arguments.
Previous knowledge of the field of peace, conflict and disarmament and experience of working as part of an international team
Fluency in spoken and written in English. Another UN language an asset.
High motivation combined with a deep personal belief in Greenpeace aims and values.
