The Biodiversity Conservation Branch has five sections with a broad mix of policy and program responsibilities. The sections are:

  • Conservation Policy
  • Conservation Incentives & Design
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Ecosystems and Climate Change
  • Tasmania: Caring for our Country

The Branch is part of the Australian Government Land and Coasts Team, comprising staff from the Department of Sustainability Environment, Water, Population and Communities (department)  and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry who work together to implement Caring for our Country.

  • The Conservation Policy Section has responsibility for:
  • Managing biodiversity at landscape scale
  • National biodiversity policy including integrating biodiversity into government, business and community
  • Adaptation to climate change
  • Native vegetation management and associated work on revegetation policy
