Description

Eurogroup for Animals is looking for a Policy Officer Companion Animals.

Position

  • Develop and implement a strategy to improve the legal protection of companion animals at EU and at national level
  • Establish a network of stakeholders
  • Enhance and coordinate activities of member organisations
  • Represent Eurogroup in political and scientific fora
  • Occasional travel within the EU required

Profile

  • University degree (biology, zoology, veterinary, law) or similar knowledge by acquired experience, complemented with good strategic thinking
  • Understanding of animal health and welfare policy issues relating to the keeping, trade and breeding of companion animals in particular cats and dogs is essential
  • Enthusiasm to improve the protection of companion animals is a must
  • Track record of lobbying and advocacy work with at least 5 years experience
  • Result orientated, outgoing personality with good oral and written communication
  • Excellent command of English
  • Ability to translate complex  issues to a variety of audiences – skilled at giving presentations
  • Ability to work independently as part of a small international team
  • Knowledge of the structure of EU institutions an asset
