Also Listing:

Wales Environment Link (WEL) is a network of 28 diverse NGOs with environmental, countryside and heritage interests, most of which have an all-Wales focus.

As an umbrella body WEL represents the shared interests of its member organisations. Its role is to support the many exciting and varied environmental organisations working in Wales to help them achieve their collective aims. WEL does this by facilitating collaborative working amongst its members and with like-minded partner organisations; and by presenting their joint positions on issues to government and key decision makers in Wales. WEL is a respected intermediary body connecting the government and the environmental NGO (eNGO) sector in Wales.

Our Working Groups provide important fora for staff of WEL member organisations to discuss Welsh environmental policy and legislation. Through the work of WEL’s Working Groups, members produce joint statements to the National Assembly for Wales, the Welsh Government and other statutory bodies. At present we have Working Groups focussing on Advocacy, Governance, Land Use, Marine, and Natural Resources and Biodiversity. We provide support for the Sustainable Development Alliance in Wales and work closely with Stop Climate Chaos Cymru. We also coordinate a project to encourage Assembly Members to become Species Champions.
