The Ramblers is looking to recruit a skilled and experienced individual to enable The Ramblers to develop and maintain an authoritative and expert voice on walking and health issues, positioning ourselves as a strong and influential advocate for a country designed for walking, which enables people to lead happier, healthier lives.

Essential Requirements include:

  • Experience of gathering data from a wide range of sources, with ability to research and interpret complex information for range of audiences and present in variety of accurate and accessible formats.
  • Proficient in policy development, with substantial experience of producing evidence-based policy which supports organisational priorities and reflects external changes.
  • Strong presentational skills, with experience of supporting volunteers and members of the public.
  • Highly organised self-starter, with strong ability to manage multiple workstreams and work to tight deadlines, and well-practiced in the use of data management systems.
  • Experience of working with decision makers, extensive understanding of the workings of central and local government, and strong political antennae.
  • Strategic thinker, with experience of project management and ability to plan, prioritise and exercise sound political judgement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience of building and maintaining relationships with external organisations, and extensive knowledge of the walking and health sector.
  • Team player, with experience of using engagement techniques, a broad appreciation of campaigning and communications, and demonstrable ability to work collaboratively across a voluntary sector organisation.
