ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Pocomoke Watershed Project Coordinator will support the development and implementation of an innovative targeted restoration project focused on achieving efficient and effective water quality and habitat improvement.  The Coordinator will work closely with project staff and partner organizations to assist with landowner and public outreach, perform site evaluations, coordinate and maintain monitoring studies, and provide project oversight and coordination.  The project will include work on private lands and, therefore, the ability to maintain productive and respectful relationships with private landowners is a critical component of this position.  The Pocomoke River watershed is located on the eastern shore of Maryland and is a tributary to the Chesapeake Bay.  The Pocomoke Watershed Project Coordinator will be supervised by the Watershed Restoration Director and will be based out of their home. 

Specific tasks will include the following:

  • Contact landowners in the watershed to inform them about the benefits and opportunities for restoration on their property.
  • Provide support to partners working with landowners in priority locations by producing maps and compiling site-level information.
  • Coordinate restoration in priority areas by conducting partner meetings and field evaluations, establishing budgets and schedules, writing and soliciting design and construction contracts, and providing oversight of restoration work.
  • Assist with installation of monitoring equipment to evaluate water quality at restoration sites.
  • Maintain monitoring equipment, perform quality assurance checks of equipment, collect field data, process samples for delivery to water quality lab, coordinate analysis with water quality lab. 
  • Maintain database and perform initial analysis of water quality data.
  • Maintain detailed records of costs and resources associated with all tasks.
  • Develop reports and project updates.
