Planning Officer

£ 39,651 - £44,654 full-time, permanent

Chinnor, Oxfordshire

A rare and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional planner to join a small multi-disciplinary team caring for one of the country’s finest landscapes. The Chilterns Conservation Board is seeking a Planning Officer to play a crucial role in conserving and enhancing the nationally-protected Chilterns AONB.

The Chilterns AONB covers 833 square kilometres across three counties and two unitary authorities. The Chilterns Conservation Board is one of only two statutory bodies in the UK set up to care for AONBs.

Reporting to the Board’s Chief Officer you will provide advice and guidance on all planning matters; actively promote good planning practices and guidance; play a key role in promoting and protecting the special qualities of the AONB; and contribute to the effective delivery of the AONB Management Plan.

You must be a member of the RTPI or equivalent, have a proven track record of experience and achievements within complex and varied planning environments, as well as an interest in contemporary approaches to nature conservation, environmental management and the historic environment. Whilst being up to speed with current planning legislation and guidance, you excel in partnership working and relationship building, with the ability to provide authoritative and influential judgement in sometimes complex situations. Able to prioritise and manage a busy workload, you must be a strong team player but also feel equally comfortable working autonomously.

Closing date: noon March 9th 2015  Interview date: March 17th 2015
