PLANNER I - ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Salary Range:
$49, 926 to $54, 526 per year
Summary of Function:
To provide support and assistance to the reporting of appropriate corporate interests related to applications under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act as well as applications made pursuant to the TRCA Fill, Construction and Alteration to Waterways Regulation and related program activities; provide effective project management and service delivery. Provide and maintain excellent customer service.
Knowledge:
Post secondary education in land use or environmental planning or a related field;
Knowledge of the Planning Act and the Conservation Authority Act and Environmental Assessment Act regulations preferred;
2 years municipal and/or environmental planning experience and applied computer knowledge;
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings;
Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication skills and customer service;
Ability to make presentations in both public and technical forums;
Possession of a valid Ontario driver's license.
Example of Tasks:
Perform the following tasks under general supervision: 1. Assist the team to review and respond to Environmental Assessment Act applications with respect to the Authority's programs, policies and regulation requirements. 2. Under the direction and review documents, development applications and comprehensive environmental reports and identify where Authority policy and program interests are affected and report appropriate action to the Planner II or Senior Planner, Environmental Assessment. 3. Project Manage planning documents, development applications and comprehensive environmental reports and identify where Authority policy and program interests are affected and report appropriate action to the Planner II or Senior Planner, Environmental Assessment. 4. Prepare reports for the Executive Committee which ensure effective communication of corporate interests for applications made pursuant to Ontario Regulations. Attend Executive Committee meetings. 5. Provide support to the Manager and Environmental Assessment Planning team to coordinate planning and regulation program activities. 6. Assist in maintaining effective client relations. Ability to liaise with member municipalities, with Enforcement staff with regard to appropriate implementation of permits. 7. Maintain service delivery records in accordance with Section operation procedures. 8. Participate in program development initiatives and projects. 9. Perform other duties as assigned.
