Physical Oceanographer

We are seeking to appoint a senior physical oceanographer within the Physics, Sea Ice and Technology Department at SAMS.   The appointee will be a core member of a growing and successful group of oceanographers and will provide scientific leadership to develop our research programme in basin scale oceanography. In particular, you will be expected to lead the development of the North Atlantic Glider Base at SAMS.

You will be expected to develop SAMS engagement with international programs in Ocean observation, particularly in in the Atlantic and high latitudes.

You will be a high calibre scientist with a proven ability to publish 3*/4* quality research and have a very successful record of grant capture and be fully engaged in international networks.

You will have a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and a track record of successful postgraduate training and supervision.

The position is permanent and is based at the Scottish Marine Institute near Oban.
