Greenpeace Canada is seeking a talented coordinator to manage an outdoor photo exhibit tour that will travel across Quebec.

Job Vacancy: Photo Exhibit Tour Coordinator
Location: Montreal
Reports to: Head of Climate & Energy
Duration of contract: to end of July 2015
Closing date for applicants: May 20, 2015

The “Along The Pipeline” photo project is a collection of 24 portraits of Canadians and First Nations who live along the proposed Energy East pipeline route and are caught in the polarizing world of tar sands expansion.

The exhibition will tour communities along the proposed pipeline route and be accompanied by local openings and/or information sessions.  The project will be executed together with local partners and other NGOs.  It will then be passed along to partners in Ontario for the remainder of the summer.


Specific Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Arrange the details of the tour schedule with local partners in QC;

  • Organize the volunteering team involved in the tour;

  • Develop materials and documents for the setup and information on the exhibit;

  • Organize a Montreal Exhibit launch and promotion;

  • Arrange local community media and press work;

  • Travel with the exhibit;

  • Understand and manage assembly and disassembly of the exhibit;

  • Instruct, support, and motivate the volunteers/crew;

  • Participate in any public outreach required for the exhibit;

  • Maintain the inventory of tools and materials required for the exhibit;

  • Ensure that the exhibit is clean and repaired if necessary;

Required skills:

  1. A demonstrated commitment, knowledge and passion for environmental and social justice issues;

  2. Proven experience organizing detailed tour schedules is an asset;

  3. Experience engaging and organizing a diverse group of volunteers;

  4. Proven skill in anticipating and troubleshooting tour issues;

  5. Previous event planning experience;

  6. High level of professionalism while representing an organization, managing conflict, and maintaining working relationships;

  7. Experience setting objectives and adhering to priorities;

  8. Excellent oral and written communication skills including public speaking and presentation skills, as well as strong listening abilities;

  9. Ability to work collaboratively with partners and participate effectively as part of a team;

  10. Flexible, collaborative personality;

  11. Fluency in French is required;

You will work very closely with volunteers and colleagues in Canada and Quebec.  Travel within Quebec will be required. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required.  

Candidates should understand and support Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience.  All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
