Description
The post-holder will work with the Perthshire Reserves Manager to conserve the important species and habitats on six SWT nature reserves, including the key osprey site at Loch of the Lowes, near Dunkeld. They will liaise with local communities, schools and local SWT member centres. Main responsibilities are:

" Organising and maintaining the eight-week, 24 hour osprey security watch.
" Managing and supporting volunteers.
" Undertaking species and habitat monitoring.
" Co-ordinating and implementing practical conservation tasks.
" Guided walks and other formal environmental education programmes.
" Membership recruitment.

Applicants should hold recognised qualification in wildlife/nature conservation, ecology or equivalent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary as is self motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of the local area and of conservation issues in Perthshire would be advantageous. A current UK driving licence is essential.

Duration: Ranger posts will be for c6 months starting March 2010 (final dates to be confirmed with successful candidates). Osprey and Peregrine Protection Officers posts will be for approx 8 - 12 weeks respectively and their appointment and length of contract will depend on the birds' migration/breeding behaviours.

Salary: £13,000 - £15,000 per annum depending on experience and responsibilities afforded each post.
