Personnel Manager

Salary £30,000 -£33,000 per annum pro rata

Part Time (2days per week) Permanent

Thames21 is the voice for London’s waterways. We work hand in hand with communities to improve rivers, canals and ponds for social and environmental benefit through: practical, educational and awareness-raising projects. Our army of volunteers enhance protect and fight for the capitals’ wide network of waterways, which provide vital habitat for wildlife and much needed green space in one of the most densely populated cities in Europe.

 

At present Thames21 has 25 staff members, some of whom are based in our main office close to Cannon Street Station, others are based in our Bow Lock Office, in the heart of East London, others are home based and work in the heart of local communities. Thames21 also provides Schools Education at the Welsh Harp Environment Centre.

 

The role of Personnel Manager is central and important to the running of the charity.  We require an enthusiastic, organised and committed individual to undertake this important role. The post holder will function as part of the Senior Management Team, assisting in making decisions on the way forward for the charity.   

 

Applicants should have:

 

  • CIPD qualified to Associate level or relevant experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programmes and the ability to produce documents in a professional manner.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting systems.
  • Understanding and awareness relevant employment legislation.
  • Knowledge of auto enrolment pensions and their implementation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people - staff, Trustees and personnel of other member organisations.
  • Organised and planned approach to record keeping.
  • Be able to working on own initiative with the ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Know and understanding of the importance of deadlines, punctuality and time management.
  • Understanding the importance of confidentiality in all staff recruitment and personnel issues.
