If you’re part of the Environment Agency (EA), you’re helping to protect and improve the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries and conservation.

Such a broad scope of work calls for diverse, multi-skilled teams. Together, we’ll promote sustainable growth, tackle climate change and secure a better future for everyone.

Our Permitting Support Team needs enthusiastic individuals to manage incoming low risk license and permit applications, providing support to technical centres throughout the application process. You’ll contribute to the Environment Agency’s vision of creating a better place for people and wildlife by helping to regulate low risk activities.

You will be working within one of our support teams based in Sheffield. These teams have a strong customer focus and are essential in providing a range of administrative services that support the permit and licence application process.

As a Permitting Support Advisor you’ll act as an initial point of contact for customers who need information and advice and review applications to assess their completeness and obtain further information from the customer if required.

You’ll work alongside team members in delivering team and individual target. You’ll manage your own workload of ongoing cases and queries and update databases and records where necessary.

Whilst relevant work experience would be an advantage, it’s less important than key transferrable skills and personal qualities we’re looking for.

  • Ability to follow written processes
  • Ability to work using basic computer applications such as Microsoft excel, word and email.
  • Managing your own time and workload and meeting performance targets related to you and your team.
  • Ensure data and information is handled correctly and accurately

We support flexible working hours and practices to help you strike a good balance between your work life and your personal life. In this role there is flexibility to split your time between working in the office or at home.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll benefit from a culture that embraces difference and includes everyone, where you’ll feel supported and trusted to do the right thing. We’ll invest in you and allow you to grow and shape your career.
