Description

The British Antarctic Survey, part of the Natural Environment Research Council, aims to undertake a world-class programme of scientific research, and to sustain for the UK an active and influential regional presence and a leadership role in Polar affairs.

The successful candidate will participate in research funded by the NERC standard grant Short circuits in the nitrogen cycle regulate ecosystem development in the terrestrial Antarctic (NEB 1063). The main purpose of the PDRA will be to establish which classes of soil micro-organisms are most efficient at obtaining amino acids and peptides of different sizes in maritime Antarctic soils.

Qualifications: Degree and PhD in soil or plant science

Duration: 18 months fixed term appointment

Salary: Salary will be in the range of £26,180 to £29,410 per annum. We offer a generous benefits package including a defined salary pension scheme, free car parking, flexible working hours and 30 days annual leave.
