About Forum for the Future

Forum for the Future is a non-profit organisation working globally with business and government to create a sustainable future. We aim to transform the critical systems that we all depend on, such as food, energy and finance, to make them fit for the challenges of the 21st century. We have 20 years’ experience of inspiring new thinking, building creative partnerships, and developing practical innovations to change our world.

Where does this role sit within the organisation?

This role will be part of the Communications and Networks team.

What will the Partners and Projects Communications Manager (Maternity Cover) do?

This role will form a crucial part of Forum’s work by using integrated communications to maximise the power of our work to create more change.

The post-holder will need to get under the skin of our projects, working alongside Programme teams to help them design and budget for effective communications strategies as an integral lever for change. They will also assist or lead in project managing these strategies, sometimes commissioning and working with third-party suppliers to deliver them.

The post-holder will take an integrated communications approach, drawing from a range of communications disciplines to suit the audience and subject matter of the project they are working on.

The post-holder will also help leverage our relationships with important partners so that we can use the power of third party voices to shout about the great work that we do.

There will be the opportunity to generate exciting, comms-led projects with our amazing network of pioneering organisations.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a dynamic, creative individual with a proven track record of using communications as a strategic lever in change processes.

You should understand our values and mission, and have demonstrable relevant experience in:

  • Strategic comms campaign planning and implementation, including audience segmentation; creative campaign idea generation; execution through a variety of online and offline channels; success metrics; campaign impact and evaluation
  • Experience of PR, ideally gained in a fast-paced, integrated agency setting, and a good network of relevant media contacts beyond the obvious sustainability channels
  • Experience of identifying and managing risks, including some media crisis management
  • Well-versed in the latest communications trends and able to feed insights from best practice campaigns into Forum’s approach
  • Content knowledge and international relationships in the Energy or Food systems would be a distinct advantage
  • Proven ability to get to grips with the detail and complexity of a global sustainability issue, pick up new information quickly and translate complex data and ideas into mainstream communications strategies
  • Proven ability to establish personal credibility with content experts and act as an ambassador for the value of communications as a lever for change
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate with people at all levels within and outside Forum; familiar with stakeholder engagement processes
  • Demonstrable business development experience
  • Advanced competence in IT, in particular in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel; MS Outlook); internet navigation; contact databases; social media
  • Excellent planning and time management skills: able to multi-task on multiple complex projects, take the initiative and work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent writing and proofing skills
  • Membership of recognised industry body e.g. CIPR would be an advantage
