Parsons Brinckerhoff appoints new technical director for its environmental business

London, United Kingdom (09 May 2011) – Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB), the international engineering consultancy, has appointed Tom Matthewson as a technical director in the company’s environmental business with responsibility for teams in the London and Godalming offices.  He will also help support PB’s growth in the burgeoning offshore and marine markets.

Tom was previously Head of Strategic Environmental Consulting at Black & Veatch and brings to PB over 16 years experience in environmental consulting, with specific expertise in power and renewables, rivers and coastal management, water utilities and marine minerals. He has particular experience of leading major environmental impact assessments at all stages of a project from initial strategy formulation through to post construction, under the statutory Environmental Impact Assessment, Strategic Environmental Assessment and Habitats Directives. 

Career highlights include direction of the Severn Tidal Power environmental studies, advice to financial institutions for the acquisition of UK water utilities, and development of power and water schemes in the Middle East. Tom also has a track record of delivering nationally significant river and coastal management strategies and projects, and he has held key client account management roles for major engineering and environmental consultancy frameworks with the Environment Agency.

Tom is a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water Environmental Management and is an IEMA Registered Principal EIA Assessor.

He will be based at PB’s Godalming and London offices.
