Medway Norse is one of the biggest joint ventures within Norse Group, partnering with Medway Council to deliver a growing number of frontline public services to residents. The business portfolio is including to develop as further services are provided across waste, building maintenance and countryside management.

As we continue to provide support to the local community, we are looking to recruit a Park Ranger to work at Capstone Farm Country Park in Gillingham and Riverside Country Park in Rainham.

The role

As Park Ranger, you will be part of a frontline team that maintains public areas and site infrastructure, improve and maintain a variety of habitats as well as helping to produce and deliver an annual events programme and leading educational session for local schools both on and off site.

Alongside park maintenance, you will be collaborating with a range of stakeholders and colleagues, resolving health and safety and cleanliness issues whilst maintaining valuable green spaces and engaging the local community.  You will help manage and supervise the activities of contractors on site, and actively promote Medway's parks and open spaces in alignment with Norse Group’s values.

Capstone park - covers an area of 114 hectares and contains a mix of young and mature woodland, meadow/grassland and amenity parkland.

Riverside - covers an area of 100 hectares with a variety of habitats including mudflats, saltmarsh, ponds, reedbeds, grassland and scrub which runs alongside the Medway Estuary.

Both Country Parks are Green Flag Award accredited.

Our Successful Candidate; 

You will be expected to bring a combination of knowledge, experience and personal aptitude to the role, highlighted by; 

  • A professional qualification in countryside management (or similar subject), or demonstrable relevant experience 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and health & safety guidelines, including environmental management 
  • Experience leading, managing and supervising activities and events 
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable and confident when dealing with members of the public 
  • Able to work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team

Shift pattern

WK1: Mon/Tues/Weds/Thurs/Sat/Sun WK2: Tues/Weds/Thurs/Fri
