THE POSITION

Qualified applicants will provides strategic development, fundraising, campaign staff management, intellectual leadership and focused vision for our paper campaign.  The Paper Campaign Coordinator will serves as the external face/voice of the ForestEthics’ Paper campaign. The position will be based out of one of our hub offices in San Francisco, CA or Bellingham, WA. This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.  The position will remain open until filled.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the strategic direction of the Paper campaign so that it contributes to protection of Canada’s boreal forests.
  • Engage a multi-disciplinary team of advisors and staff in the development of winning campaign strategies that are executed through specific campaign project plans.
  • Provide day-to-day management of the Paper team, motivate and develop staff, identify and manage conflicts effectively where they may arise.
  • Oversee the annual campaign budgets and ensure financial health of the campaign.
  • Oversee all research contracts and retainers.
  • Manage virtual collaboration workspace for campaign.
  • Propose job descriptions for interns.
  • Supervise interns in the performance of their jobs.  
  • Responsible for direct contact to persuade paper companies they must act to protect Canada’s boreal forests.  
  • Work with Market Solutions department to support its work on paper issues with companies.
  • Work with organizing department to coordinate activist and ally involvement in Paper campaign.
  • Work with Communications department on media and materials for Paper campaign.
  • Advise corporate campaigners on Paper issues/Questions.
  • Participate in all campaign planning activities and meetings.
  • Provide regular update on campaign activity.
  • Track web site to ensure information is up-to-date and accurate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years experience in campaign project planning, monitoring, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of forest issues and corporate campaigns.
  • Computer proficiency in project management software in addition to basic computer applications, including spreadsheet, word processing and database software, contact management systems and the internet.
  • Excellent project management, follow-through, and time management skills.
  • Experience with grant writing and budgeting preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with media relations preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of effective teamwork and coalition building as well as ability to work independently.
  • Ability to think and act strategically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong math skills as demonstrated by the ability to work with and apply mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fractions, percentages, and ratios.
  • Very high reasoning skills as demonstrated by the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  • High language skills as demonstrated by the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; the ability to write
