The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting ecosystems and the people and wildlife that depend on them by implementing better business practices for biodiversity conservation and sustainability. Companies, cooperatives, and landowners that participate in our programs meet rigorous standards for protecting the environment, wildlife, workers, and local communities.

The Rainforest Alliance has an office in Bali and operates throughout Indonesia, applying the Sustainable Agriculture Network standard in agriculture, the Forest Stewardship Council standard in forestry and various accredited standards in carbon offsetting and REDD initiatives. The Rainforest Alliance’s Sustainable Agriculture division trains and empowers farmers to produce more with less and cope with climate change and fickle markets while at the same time conserving the natural resources on which they depend, protecting endangered ecosystems and wildlife, ensuring workers’ rights and benefits, and promoting the well-being of farmers, their families and communities.

Working with local NGOs and institutions, the Rainforest Alliance conducts research, provides training services to producers, audits farm and forestry operations, creates market linkages, manages grant and private-sector funded projects, and sorts’ commodity supply chains for manufacturers and retailers.
