Are you interested in land conservation? Do you want to help protect the natural and working landscapes of Vermont and New England, while also getting experience that can lead to jobs with groups like The Nature Conservancy, The US Forest Service, state agencies, and land trusts? Do you like working outside, in the woods, out in nature?  If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, consider the Land Stewardship (LANDS) Program, an innovative summer internship being offered 2009 through the University of Vermont and Student Conservation Association. LANDS interns work to support land-use agencies in their land conservation efforts. The combination of academic/technical rigor and corps make this employment experience unique.  LANDS interns assist in the stewardship of these lands in a variety of ways:

-Annual monitoring visits
-Natural resource inventories
-GIS mapping
-Writing management plans
-Community outreach

-& more

This work is done from the team to the individual level. The 2007 & 2008 LANDS team made a difference for these organizations, and it could be your opportunity to make a difference in 2009. If you are eager to work outside in beautiful places and want to advance your skills in land conservation, apply for LANDS. Visit the website for more info: http://www.uvm.edu/~conserve/lands_website/

LANDS is committed to diversifying the conservation movement.
Intern applicants from under-represented racial, ethnic, or cultural groups in the environmental field are encouraged to apply.
