General position overview:
The Center for Biological Diversity, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of imperiled plants, animals and wild places, seeks an experienced and creative organizer to engage other environmental groups, the public, religious organizations, sportsmen’s organizations, community leaders, elected officials and others in defense of wolves in California, Oregon and Washington. 

Main duties:

  • Generate favorable news articles and TV and radio stories on return of wolves to the West Coast.
  • Work with a newly formed coalition of environmental groups focused on recovering wolves on the West Coast
  • Engage political leaders to obtain the return of wolves.
  • Engage the public through action alerts and other tools to ensure their support for wolves.
  • Generate favorable editorials and op-eds in support of wolves.
  • Engage other environmental groups, religious organizations, hunting and fishing groups, and others to join our campaign.

Essential qualities, qualifications and skills desired:

  • Dynamic and assertive personality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At least three years experience running grassroots campaigns.
  • A passion for and knowledge of the role of predators, particularly wolves, in the natural world.
