 POSITION SUMMARY
 The Oyster Conservation Coordinator will effectively train volunteers to grow and measure oysters on their private docks.  Responsibilities include coordination of volunteer training and data collection activities, tracking the results of oyster survival and growth and posting data results on website.  Coordinator will provide technical assistance; assist with local oyster reef-building project, which will require small boat operation and shell handling; assist with reef monitoring activities, which will require snorkeling.  Strong interpersonal skills and excellent organizational skills are essential.  This is a short-term (June to Nov) part-time (approx 14 hours/week) position, based out of the Great Bay Office in Newmarket, New Hampshire.
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 • Associate’s degree in natural resources, environmental studies or equivalent combination of 
  education and 6 months to 1 year of experience.  Degree in marine related discipline a plus.
• Experience with shellfish aquaculture preferred.
• Successful experience coordinating and working with volunteers
• Small boat operation experience, a plus.
• Snorkeling experience, a plus.
• Ability to coordinate information from multiple sources into databases including data entry
  and report production.
• Experience completing tasks independently within assigned timeframes.
• Experience managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources.
• Ability to perform administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks.
• Working knowledge of common software applications (e.g.; Word, Excel, Web browsers).
• Ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English.
 ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
 This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program.  Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers."  Please see further details in the Auto Safety Program document available at www.nature.org/careers. 

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.

• Will formulate ideas and communicate clearly with others, both orally and in written form.
• Must provide a variety of information to staff and others, contributing to the oyster project and
   assisting with the workflow of the project.
•  Will work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, including scientists,
   staff, volunteers and others, providing and obtaining needed information.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.

     • present occasional possibility of injury
